At the beginning of the colony, nurses were essential to the well-being and survival of the inhabitants. This historic site tells you about the life of these nurses back in those days. More particularly, you will learn about the life of Gertrude Duchemin, who was a nurse during 40 years before becoming a midwife. You will also learn more about dispensaries, which were the hospitals of the epoch. With the archive documents, the medical instruments and the furniture you will see in the exhibition, you will thus notice the evolution of Quebec's health care system.
