This is one of the largest areas of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region. This sector, which is a land of forests and lakes, is home to the oldest city of the region: Amos. In its centre runs one of Canada’s longest waterways: the famous Harricana River, which, among other things, has inspired many Quebec singers.
At its beginnings, this area welcomed many wood workers who came to settle on its territory. Its large green spaces where many different kinds of trees grow were favourable to the establishment of important forest industry companies a few years later. In addition to being an important employment provider, this area makes the joy of outdoor sports enthusiasts by offering them large green spaces as far as the eye can see.
Hunters and fishers can play to their heart’s content in this area, just like water sports lovers. In winter, numerous snowmobiling paths allow those sport lovers to cross the region in every direction.
