La Vallée de l'Or

The Wealthy Valley

This region is well known for its many copper and gold mines that fostered the gold rush and the construction of towns and villages at the beginning of the 20th century. In Val-d’Or, the main municipality of this region, visitors can go down 93 meters below the earth’s surface to reach Lamaque Mine, considered as a historical site.

Located on the banks of the magnificent Bell River, the municipality of Senneterre is without any doubt the perfect place for those who enjoy hunting and fishing as there are many outfitting operations. By using a visitor’s guide, it is possible to visit this place and learn more about its history and patrimony.

Vallée-de-l’Or is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. They can participate in a host of activities at Mont Bell throughout the year. La Vérendrye wildlife preserve allows visitors to take part in activities like fishing and canoe camping.
